HELP! 1993 V6 Auto Starts and Idles, then dies
Fourth Gen Experts,
We have a 1993 3.4L V6 Camaro with 277,000 miles. She is on her second engine and came to us after sitting for approximately 3 years (Give or take). Engine has about 50K miles on it. We have been working on fixing up this car since early June and we've hit a bit of a snag: The car will crank and start, reach idle, and then die after about 2 seconds of smooth idling (1000-1100 RPM). Additionally, we can't get it to run by carbureting it with starter fluid. If we try to start it with the throttle open, the engine will not start. We've been trying to find the root of the problem for a while, and here's what we've done:
-New gaskets on the intake manifold, throttle body, valve covers, and EGR.
-New fuel injectors (old ones were shot)
-New sparkplugs
-New fuel filter
-New Battery
-Checked all grounds
-Pulled ECU and visually checked it for any obvious defects (didn't find any, could still be bad)
-Cleaned Idle Air Control valve
-Oil Change
-ATF Added
-Drained and refilled fuel lines
-Cleaned fuel rail
Now here is what we are suspecting is causing the problem:
-The CEL light in the car is stuck on and we can't get the machine to enter diagnostic mode by jumping the pins, so we think we might have a bad ECU.
-We currently attempt to start the car by jumping the starter directly to the battery. We know there are electrical problems, so we think maybe a sensor might be bad, IE the TPS or a similar thing, that would cause the engine to run with too much air and not enough fuel.
-Fuel problem is also possible, but we can hear the fuel pump running. In order to drain old gas out of the tank and lines, we jumped the fuel pump relay and were able to get fuel flow, so we know that it is at least partially working. We'll be checking fuel pressure at the rail soon.
-The sitting time leads us to believe we could also have a vacuum leak just from age. We attempted to trace any leak by putting smoke in the engine bay and weren't able to find anything. Gaskets are all new and everything has been reconnected and tightened.
We're aware that's a lot to take in, but any help would be appreciated. We're on a low budget for the project and are trying to avoid throwing parts at the problem. Any insight into why we can't get the engine to run consistently would be greatly appreciated. We'll continue updating here. Thanks!

check fuel pressure. bad fuel pump is the first thing that comes to mind. that it wont start or try to using starting fluid sorta takes that out though. may be the ecu or could be the vats. have you picked up a factory service/shop manual. download here http://www.mediafire.com/?40mfgeoe4ctti or pick up a paper version, first thing i did for my 93. https://diyrepairmanuals.com/product...oaAoG-EALw_wcB
