my advice for v6 guys is to keep them stock ,takes alot of money to make a v6 go faster ,though headers is about the only thing i would do besides just waiting for a z28 ,you can spend 2k an get 20hp wich is realy not worth it with v6 cars ram air or cold air gets you like 1hp,the same 2k in z28 car would make it worth it ,drag raceing a v6 car takes 15 to 20 k ,unless its bring your stock v6 day at the track ,i like my v6 just the way it is .now my 406 different yes i got 05 sable that has 250hp so most v6 cars older then 02 will beat you in a race every time, but for the time an day the 200hp is great daily driver ,not a race car ,you can look at some v6 builds in projects an there spending big money an lots of time to get to 300hp ,

Headers are a nice upgrade on a 98 because it still has they crappy cast iron manifolds. Your car will be mid to upper 15 seconds stock. 15.3-15.6 with headers and exhaust. You can spend a decent amount of money and not get it out of the 15's. Breaking 15's can get expensive on an automatic 3800 even with the 3:42 that should be in the Y87 package. You will be looking at a Cam some head work and some good tuning. After all that you will not get out of 14's without boost.

You should verify you have the 3:42's and the posi rear as those because those are the best upgrades after the headers, After that that you can do rocker arms. Then tune. You are not going to get much out of tuning a stock engine. But if you run a cooler thermostats, headers and rocker arms then the tune you could hit 15's even.

Like was stated in the above post you can put a ton of work into one of these cars and be outrun by any budget rental car expect the absolute cheapest econo boxes out there. Weighing in at 3600 lbs it just not going to be a fast car with a 6 cylinder.

Some good shocks, 32mm front sway bar and some 18" wheel she will handle a corner well for a car of that mass but I would guess in a world of BMW's and Porsche's that not going to impress anyone.
