I actually saw that brace you’re talking about on another forum somewhere. I do plan on making one before putting the engine back together! I’ll post pics when I get one made up!

 

Well, here’s what I came up with. Looks like it’ll work well! What do you guys think?

 

I would lock tight that bolt.

Nicely done. As far as the Loctite, I'd use the weakest one, enough to keep the bolt from vibrating loose.

 

You got me twisted. I’ll JB Weld that thing in there!! 😂😂 Because I swear if I ever have to take the engine apart again, it’s getting set on fire or I’ll just LS swap it and won’t have to mess with it again 😁 JK, I’ll use blue Loctight lol

 

Pink is the weakest. But personally I would use blue (medium strength) and honestly wouldn't be afraid of using red (high strength) as it's not something you are going to routinely loosen and you obviously don't want it to ever come out on its own again.

Actually, hell, use Loctite 638 retaining compound. It will never ever come out again. And if you try, without using an oxy torch and getting it white hot, it will snap the head and then you can test how far you can throw a ratchet. And I'm not joking either. We use that at work for certain things and made the mistake when I was new of using it on a 1 1/4" bolt and not the other green Loctite we have. That was not fun getting back out. Also, used it repair a exhaust valve seat that fell out in a tractor once. Still retaining strong.

It's great for what we use it for (retaining brass bushings in our presses) but not so much for bolts. Unless you never want them out. Which usually if that's the case we tack weld them in place instead. Easier to grind off a weld than to use an open flame, especially in our pits which are usually full of hydraulic oil and kerosene.
