what size of drill bit you using. should be fairly small to get a pilot hole.

Looks like you can even use a 1/16 or 1/32 drill bit to get a good pilot hole (Of course, drilling slowly as not to break the bit), then use a good sharp screw extractor to get it out. That's my

(Also, probably a good idea to give that area a good thorough cleaning. Looks to me like you've got some shavings there)

I think I was trying to use a 1/8" bit. When I was trying before I tried using a center punch to make a dimple, but it just flattened the punch. So naturally I couldn't get the bit to stay in one place long enough to actually make a hole. Also, because it's pitched up at an angle because it's in the head, It's very difficult to get axial force on it decently.

the smaller the drill bit the better to start with. dont want to break the bit though so gota be carefull. got a dremel bit small enough to get in there to flatten it?

There are a lot of bix box stores that should have a loan-a-tool program. Usually you can borrow a power tool for around $50 then return it to get the money back. If there's nothing like that near you, there's always some crazy stupid $99 deal for a whole Ryobi kit at Home Depot

That's sucks to be holding progress up. But get a dremel. It comes in handy a lot.

I just might have to. I'm seriously close to just saying screw it and putting the mani back on as it is, because this is seriously been driving me insane for months (mostly because it was my own stupidity that got me in this situation).
