what do you mean the Opti will "make it rain?" And I certainly hope it doesn't take 6 hours this time through. Since I've done most of it before, it will come easier the second time around.

I don't think so...Nate knows who I'm buying from, so he knows I'm getting it for $90 brand new

And for valve covers, should I go with something like this:

Or do chrome:

SB Chevy LT1 Polished Aluminum Valve Covers 350 5.7L | eBay

My intake manifold will appear as in those pictures

Do some searches on make it rain. Has many meanings, not going any farther on this forum.

Optis from Chandler are 130 and if he can get one for 90 thats brand new I would just go for it. That way you know its done.

So during shutdown this week, I decided to take on a bit of work on the car that I've been putting off. Replace lifters (have had a bad one for a long time), paint the intake manifold as long as it's off, clean air filters and MAF, delete EGR and AIR, and replace opti. So far...not so good. This car somehow keeps finding new ways to infuriate me every time I try to do anything to it. In about 10-11 hours working on it the last three days, all I've managed to accomplish is remove the CAI and elbow, throttle body, alternator, and driver's side valve cover. That's it. I haven't been able to remove the fuel rail because I can't get the fuel lines disconnected. I have the disconnect tool in the fitting, but I just can't get the damn things off, and I fear I might have broken the fuel rail from twisting and pulling on the fittings so much. Today I also managed to get my ratcheting end wrench jammed in between the bolt that I was removing and the EGR valve (which is on the back side of the intake manifold. I got one of the nuts off to remove the valve, but I couldn't find the other one back there (with half the engine under the cowl, it's literally like working blind). I couldn't get the nuts off the other EGR piping either because I can't get my arm back there enough to get any force on it without killing my bad shoulder. I also haven't been able to remove the IAC housing that goes on the bottom side of the throttle body because I can't get either of the hoses off. So yeah, it's been incredibly frustrating so far. Days like this make me wish I would never have bought this stupid car.

Is there any trick to removing this kind of fuel line fittings?

As you can see, I have the little tools in there, but for the life of me I can't seem to get the suckers disconnected.
