if it has a intermitant issue i would offer a considerable amout less for the car. if you have someone else work on the car it can get spendy in a hurry. if it is a fuel pump acting up it could cost 600 bucks (more or less depending on quality and shop) to get one put in. is it a really good deal or is he asking max blue book?

The price is what makes the car interesting: He's asking £2150 which is about $3100. Over here, 4th gen LT1 Z28's usually go for $5500 - $ 8500. He's set a lower price because of the fault but it's still cheap.
There's a Chevy dealer about 9 miles from where the car is (at his friends Farm) so i'll call them later and see if i can get the codes read there.

Right, i'm off to look at the car tomorrow and a local mot testing station are going to run a diagnostic on it so i'll know what i'm letting myself in for!
He says as far as he knows the fuel pump is priming prior to starting, but as he's 20 miles from the car at the moment i'll check it myself when i'm there.
Apart from the obvious stuff like rust, leaks and weird noises, are there any particular things to look out for when buying a LT1 Z28?
Fingers crossed i should soon be back in the V8 fold. All i've got to do now is keep calm...

Just don't jump up and down like your smiley guy is doing. Buyers LOVE to see anxiety, it helps to hold the price up. Whenever I'm looking at a car, I portray a "take it or leave it attitude", even if I'm excited about it. Find as much wrong as you can with the car, and use it in the negotiations. Now, when I'm selling a car, I really hate when I get buyers who are like me!

Don't worry: I wont do anything too stupid. Next time you meet a Brit ask them what it's like trying to get money out of a Yorkshireman
. Also, if i do lose the plot, my friend Dave has full authority to drag me away kicking and screaming if necessary!
I'll let you all know what happens...

Well... i've been and bought it! We crawled all over and under the car and it's really clean. The only blemishes are two scratches done by some moron with a key.
It's got full service history since crossing the channel 11 years ago, the engine is (very!) strong and is far better on fuel than i could have hoped for.
But the question on everyone's lips: What about the error codes?
Erm, well, the local garage couldn't diagnose a Camaro after all and the scanner that came with it only went up to '93. The fuel pump relay seems to be working ok. So the only options were leave it or take a leap into the unknown. Now, i know i should have walked, but i would have spent the rest of my life kicking myself because, at only $2900, i'll never find another 4th gen this nice and cared for. It's half the price of even the cheapest Z28 over here and i figured it was a gamble worth taking.
Don't flame me guys: They say love is blind!
All been well, i should have use of a code scanner tomorrow and then the truth will out!
Right now i couldn't be happier;
