Default The Wife Finally Wore Me Down

In the background you can see the 1999 I bought 4 months for a whopping 1200 knowing the engine had rod knock and would need replaced. After a lot of work I got it back to being a reasonably reliable car. Then my wife decided she liked driving it better than driving her 2010 Ford Fusion with 16000 miles.

Today I finally gave up, caved in and let her have her way and traded a perfectly good one year old car in on a new Camaro. I thought it was nuts but after driving the new one all I can say is AWESOME!. I have to give gm credit 312 HP out of a 3.6L. The 3.8L in my sons 99 is rated at 200 hp and the 5.7L 99 is only rated at 305hp.

The sad part for me..... All the cars are in my name and 99 out of 100 miles I am in a car, I am driving the 2002 ford Escape in the background. For the most part I just pay for and work on the Camaros. Life don't seem fair.

I think I will still be posting in 4th gen more than 5th because I have no intention of modifying the new one and if it breaks it just goes back to the dealer. All the work on the 99 though has been me personally.

My Sis has an escape like yours and when ever she calls me and says "my truck..." I cringe. I am my family's mechanic but I dread working on that POS. She also has a ratty old GMC conversion van that they use for only camping and I much perfer doing ANYTHING on that over the Escape.

Nice looking 5th gen. Is that an 10 or an 11? if it is a 10 then it is a special car. Only the V6 cars were painted Synergy Green and a limited # at that.

Truth be told on that subject. I am a 6'4", 250 LB, 45 year old man that has had a hip replaced and while I like driving them ocasionally I would never have one as a daily driver at this point in my life. Now between the ages of 17 and 32 I had; a 2gen Firebird two 3rd gen Camaros and a third gen Firebird.

In all truthfulness If someone told me that they would give me free of charge any car I wanted but I had to use it for the next 5 years as my daily drive. I would choose a Hybrid Version Escape

Have you ever changed the plugs in the escape? I could not beleive it but you actually have to take part of the intake manifold off to get to the rear plugs on the V6.

The 5th gen is a 2011 bought Saturday and I love the Green also. For a change this was one of the few times the wife and I actually agreed on something. When I finally caved in I said "one condition, It has to be the Synergy Green. I will not buy one any other color" She agreed and said that was what she wanted anyway. We had to try 5 dealers before we found the color equipped as I wanted.

Well at least you have a choice between 4th and 5th gen whenever you feel like taking a cruise!
