Default Widest tires on stock wheel well

What are the widest tires I can put on my 98 Z/28. I live in Canada so I don't want slicks haha, I need something with awesome traction though for street. A smidgeon of traction for a rainy day would be nice though. I like the look of the wider tires too. I think i'm running 245/50r16's right meow.

I'm running 315/55r17's triple555's for summer use only 11.5" wide on the back of my 94 z28 you gotta modifiy a lil metal peice on each side in the inner wheelwell near the front use a hammer to this area to eliminate the rubbing problems while installing or uninstalling the wheels you have to lift under the diff due to the inner wheelwell axel bumper stops rubbing on the inner part of the wheels

Will that wide be okay in Canada? Haha there's bumps and pot holes and high driveways, etc, etc.

Also, what brand and type would you recommend? Is there like street slicks? Drag radials for the street? Preferably ones that are like 80/20.. 80% for drag, 20% for rain or daily driving.

I forgot to mention that I was hoping to keep it on the 16" rims I have

255/50R16 is the largest tire you can fit on your stock rim. If you're planning on driving in rain, I advise you to just stick with normal street tires or you'll eat some trees or mail boxes in a hurry. Drag radials are meant to stay on dry pavement.
