Default Why in the world would my A4 Camaro hold 6500Rpms at 80mph in OD?!

Today me and my dad where messing around on the highway. Not the first time. We went from a 20roll then hit it. After around 80mph the car was holding 6500 for a few secs. I thought It would bounce off but no. I got scared and let off.... It's never done this before. Whats up with that? Was in over drive. Just seemed really strange.. Comments?

How do you know it was in OD? Probably just didn't shift.

I was 100% sure I was OD! I always drive in it. I've taking the thing to 120 before without it doing that. Maybe the speed I started at confused it somehow? I have no idea

Just because you have it in OD does not mean it was in OD. When you step on the gas the PCM can shift into a lower gear in your case it did not upshift back to OD. Atleast that is what you should be hoping for because the alternative will cost you a little over 2K to fix.

What would cause it to do that? I just hope there is nothing wrong with my car all of a sudden. I might take it out again so punch it at 15-20 and see if it does it again.

Definitely over $2,000 because based on the post I'll go on a limb and say the poster won't be R+R his tranny himself

check your tranny fluid level

smell it to see if it smells burnt

If what you are saying is true, the transmission is sick, and there is a problem with the rev limiter.

I just took it out on the highway and ran it hard. Did a 20-100 and then went from 60-110. It worked fine this time.. Weird.. And I am 100% sure I was in OD lastnight
