Default why does my coolant light come on when i put gas in my car

This is gonna sound really weird but it used to do it last year in the fall. in the cooler weather. then when it got really cold for the winter it never did it. now its spring and it comes on everytime i put gas in the car. then later it will shut off until the next refill. and every now it then it pops up when it wants. but i have coolant in the car. good stuff

the coolant level sensor may be failing. im not real sure what a full tank has to do with it. the extra weight in the back would move the sensor angle. anyways check the wiring to the sensor. next time its on unplug the sensor and see if it goes out.

I have a 95 camaro that has been parked since august 2006. i put it back on the road last week and my coolant warning light keeps coming on.....just did a rad flush .....coolant level is ok.....i found previous rad flush, work order, July 2006, and it suggested that the thermostat b replaced. Although the coolant light wasnt coming at that time, I'm wondering if the reason that its coming on now is because the thermostat is toast and needs to b replaced ASAP. Do you have any other suggestions as to what it can be.

i would look to the coolant level sensor first. its on the upper passenger side of the radiator.

It is a coolant level light, and it has nothing to do with temperature, thermostat or fuel in the tank. The wiring is either shorting out, or the sensor is either gunked up or just going bad. Follow Craby's advice. Also check the coolant level by removing the radiator cap when the engine is cold, the coolant should be up to the bottom of the radiator neck. Using the plastic dipstick in the overflow tank is not a reliable way to check coolant level.
