where is the cig lighter / car phone charger fuse, please?

I will have my mobile mechanic look at your videos, thurs., the day after tomorrow

it's not tomorrow, but thurs, when i will meet him at o'reilly's parking lot where he will work on it

.... I also purchased a Test LIght Fuse "checker" making the educated guess that the old fashioned way of looking at a fuse (to see if it's burnt) isn't enough nowadays

Check out amazon for parts, even if you get the part numbers from o'reilly's and just search Amazon. I have gotten stuff same day. In most cases its next day.

it's fixed. thanks everyone

the socket that was after market was wired incorrectly and burnt my mobile mechanic's phone charger outlet

it also was a fire hazard

i run the high beams with a red bypass wire switch (this is what the backyard mechanic from 2012 when I first joined installed). He always said he wasn't an electrical problem mechanic LoL

I'm so glad now I don't have a potential fire hazard in my car and a cell phone *and* a tire compressor that runs off my 12 volt dc car outlet

hey, we're living in weird times and not long ago in 2011, the cellphone car outlet wasn't even a necessity, it is now

I did not want to tell you that it is something and then it be something else, but most cars I see that come in with this complaint have a burn fuse due to a bad socket. So they end up needing both. Back when lighters where used as lighters the element you pushed in used burn out every couple of years. They would rust and short out and the rust got in the socket. Back then if you had this complaint you replaced the socket , element and fuse, should be good for 3 more years. In your case (no smoking) you should be good for another 12 years


After market was very common due to rust being a major factor. You could also get the original manufactures units but not from GM for under half the price.

Thanks, I plan on buying another more modern hot rod in about 1.5 years

I rarely drive the car as mentioned with the leaving it in the underground indoor garage battery life post before

It's nickle and diming me at being 1993 v-6 with 150,000 miles and a Kelley Blue book value that's made me choke on my grapefruit juice while I got the results

, and taking it all into consideration, a more modern Ford Mustang will probably happen

The Ford Mustang seems more affordable in terms of that more modern hot rod, sad to say, The Dodge Challenger even the older model is way, way expensive, the same with an older model higher mileage Camaro

As an interesting aside,
I'm not sure if you all know Henry Ford's history...lol...he had a bad personal history to put it nicely. One documentary, I viewed had Hitler call him his "little Heinrich"

Anyway, the great thing about this country and this world is we can look past human people's "sins" or histories, and focus on the good they provide the world; I have Jewish friends who buy BMW's / Benz's today notwithstanding what happened w/ those companies' involvment in WW II

This current Camaro would be my 2nd Camaro.

the 1st one was a 1994 Camaro Emerald Green with about 190 k miles on her before she blew a head gasket or had trans. problems

I probably bleed Red White & Blue but Camaro red white & blue

But a 2014 Dodge Challenger or a 2014 Camaro is like in the $24,000 range, not going to spend that much

I'd have to buy a 2012-2014 Ford Mustang for a lot cheaper in 2024 or 2025 for $14 K max
