I recently just now bought this box of standard and mini fuses off amazon
i will probably have to put 1 of them in location number 11 to the left of the steering wheel, right?
(Item #11 for a 4th gen. is the loction for the cigarette lighter which doubles as the fuse for the 12 volt thing u can put in an air tire compressor or a cellphone charger)
just want to confirm, please
this is the right idea, right?
i need to be able to hit my tires with air and charge my cellphone so this 12 volt cig lighter hole is indispensible for survival nowadays (thanks)
2 reasons why i don't think it's
short circuti: 1) i don't keep any change or paper clips in the center console where the 12 volt port usually is
i used an adapter to put on a tire air compressor, that measures the psi of a tire and sets the psi to the desired reading and it wouldn't power on
at home the air tire compressor worked well with its alternate power source, a wall plug, it powered on in other words
it didn't work at all when plugged into the 12 volt console
also i used another adapter that came with my cell phone and plugged it in, it wouldn't charge my phone
I figure, I put in 1 of the fuses into comparmtent number 11 at the left of the steering wheel, it should charge the phone and also allow the portable air compressor to work
check the fuse in #11 and see if it's blown. if not check for power at the cig lighter plug in. it may be bad, I had to replace mine to get it to work.

Thanks, fuse #11 cigar lighter had it look at 10 minutes ago by a neighbor who also is a mechanic look at it (not my regular mechanic)
It's not bad, not blown, in fact none of the fuses are according to him (fuses at the left of the steering wheel) are bad or blown
****How easy or difficult of a Fix was this for you, Craby?
1) Did it cost a lot of Labor Time ?
2) How about the part for a New Cigarette LIghter Plug In? How much did this cost?
Total cost?
I'm taking it to my trusty mobile mechanic tomorrow who is a cracker jack mechanic, he is the one who put the serptentine belt back on when others couldn't
I just spent 15 minutes looking for a good youtube video to explain how to check the Accessory circuit. It is so simple to do. The hardest part is simply finding the fuse. But I cannot find what I was looking for. Every video was over complicated, I mean a multi meter to check this is like grabbing a 12 ga to hunt mice. All you need is a basic test light and about a minute. This is the video that is easy to follow. Note the second voltmeter he shows can be bought at harbor freight. $7

This is a Test light. Hook the clamp to ground and search for power, then connect the clamp to power and search for ground.
When you look a fuse while it is installed there is two little windows, hook your test light to ground and with the key on touch both windows. If the light lights up on both sides fuse is good, If it only lights up on one side the fuse is not letting current through. You can test every fuse in the box in 30 seconds.
Note most main fuse boxes have a key off side (power all the time) and a key on side (power only with the key in the run position) If you do not have power on either side something may need turned on. Below is just how to use a test light
Update: I ordered the following 2 items for my mobile mechanic appointment the day after tomorrow
Rather than having him go inside O'reilly's actual brick & mortar store, where I will be meeting him, after finding the problem
Only to learn that the parts are out of stock and can be ordered,
I anticipated the worse case scenario, that the car outlet (it's not a cigarette power cord, because I don't smoke) is BROKEN or not working as Craby ^ was nice enough to suggest a worse case scenario, SO I WENT AHEAD AND TOOK THE INIITIATIVE AND MADE 2 PURCHASES AS SHOWN....
The neighbor mechanic checked ALL the fuses, including the one fuse that fits into #11 and none of them were burnt or blown
It cost a total of $20 to be delivered by door dash for close to another $25
It's worth it, in this day and age, you need a power source for tire air pumps, for your cellphone, / GPS etc
All the 2 parts Pictured / Photographed FIT a 1993 Camaro v-6 base per O'Reilly's Part Fit System Field
Did I make the right purchase?
