Where is ABS Brake Module located?
In an attempt to get my 96 Z28 convert back to full stock, I would like to repair my ABS as well as traction control lights and get traction control functioning. The dashboard switch will turn off the traction control light when in the accessory key position, so that works. It lights again when the car is started. A computer diagnosis revealed that my ABS brake module is not functioning. Yeah, it's $300 but I want it all to work. There doesn't seem to be much literature on the subject, so does anyone here have any experience on the replacement of the brake module. I have google shopped and found many suppliers with a variety of prices, but nothing on the removal and install of the part. Both front wheel hubs have been replaced (new wheel sensors included) as well as an inspection of all rear brake lights and associated fuses have been done.

it is about 12" in front of the master cylinder. Follow the brake lines from the master Cyl and the box it goes into (or is supposed to go into) is the ABS pump and module. Also the ABS unit works in tandem with the PCM so make sure you have the correct PCM if your car has had major modifications.

I believe the part you are referring to is the ABS Modulator. What I am looking for looks similar to an ECM unit. It has three multi pin connectors and doesn't look like it would survive under the hood. I am referring to RockAuto for my info.

It is under the left side of the instrument panel. It has 3 connectors/cables facing out.
If it would help, my app (Scan9495) for the 94/95 can also read the 96 ABS trouble codes and several parameters. It would require an ALDL/OBD1 cable however to make it work.
