Title says most of it Looking at a 168k mile 2000 v6 4th gen and wanted to know if any of you had experience with what is important and performance retaining maintenance for these cars? Tried searching but couldn't find this info. Thanks.

 

Same as any other,use good oil and change it on a regular basis,clean air and fuel filters and tune up parts as needed.
Maybe a new cat if it gets plugged up, I'm not real up on the V6 cars but I've read some have intake gasket failures so that may need to be addressed at some point.

 

Yep. The 3.4l have that lower intake gasket issue, but i think the 3.8l handles that better.
Staying up on trans fluid is good too.
