What does a failing wheel bearing sound like on a 98 Z28
What does a failing rear wheel bearing sound like on a 98 Z28? I've got a rubbing sound from the rear of the vehicle which I can not hear with the convertible top down driving down the road or at speeds above 35 mph. It's mainly at lower speeds I notice the sounds. Was thinking it could be from the rear brakes or the parking brake shoe... The car has 74k on the odometer. Thx..

Wheel bearing will change sound as you add and remove weight to it. So if you weave the car back and forth. The noise should get louder as the car leans then get quiet as it leans weight off the bad bearing.
I was looking closely through the wheel and see the rear rotors are not equally worn. One has rust pitting and looks like a record player on the outside area where the pads are supposed to make contact. The other side of the car the rotor is completely smooth and has no rust. Looks like some rear brake work may be needed

I have also seen the chrome on the inside of the wheel lift up a little and cause a rubbing sound, but it could be the brakes.
Check out the Power Stop kits at Rock auto. They seem to be the cheapest short of Ebay/china ones.
