What to buy with 10 grand?
Hi, I'm looking to buy a faster car now and have decided that a fourth gen camaro is the way to go. I think i'll be able to come up with about ten thousand for the car and aftermarket parts. Would you all rather pend less on an earlier z28 with the LT1 and have more to spend on aftermarket or get a LS1 camaro? Thanks for your help and also what aftermarket parts would you suggest fro either?
well LS1's are beast
but if you get an LT1 especially an older one you could easily rebuild the engine and workout better
its really a matter of what looks better to you

What is an older LT1 compared to a newer LT1? You can find a good LT1 camaro for 5-6 grand and have 5-4 grand left and that will go ALONG way for bolt ons. Or you can get an LS1 and have alil left over (they really vary in price ive seen 6k-over 10k) for something small like a CAI but you will already have the horsepower advantage over an LT1. imho you should get an LT1 and spend the rest on mods for that. You can make a sick aftermarket LT1 Fbody for alil less than an LS1 because things tend to cost more for the LS1.
I have a red z28 lt1 camaro with 114k miles. It is red automatic and the engine was rebiult at 80k miles. There is no rust on the car and there is no body damage. It does need a lil interior work done, but that comes to less that 200$. It has low profile tires and chrome limited rims. Dual exhaust and posi rear end. Engine and tranny in great shape, im in columbus and will travel. I have the car listed at 8500 but will let it go for 6500, but that is as low as i can go. Call or text me at 614-719-9071

96 and 97s go for almost the same if not in some cases more than the prices of an ls1, so if he found a 93 or 94 z for like 2-3k, that leaves him with enough for a 383 stroker to replace the engine that would probably die soon anyways with the high milage
thats true. But he also has to be wary about the condition of the body, engine isnt everything. He could save 7-8 grand by buying an earlier LT1 but waste up to half of it fixing other issues like suspension or rear end or transmission. Its hard to find a win win car these days.
i say go for an lt1 for like 3 or 4 grand and then use the rest to rebuild and mod, 383 heads cams etc. like said before. i love my lt1, but 10g is enough to get a lt1 and get it running perfect. spendin all on a ls1 is pushin it, cause alot of them that are under 10k are pushin over 100k miles
