Washing under the hood
#13
hey u guys have any suggestions as to cleaning solutions that r safe to use on plastics under the hood? my biggest complaint about the engine bay is how easy the plastic parts collect dirt and how hard it is to get that crap off. especially the intake manifold, u can spray that thing all damn day, wipe it down but when it dries the dirt is still there and it bugs the crap out of me.

i just use a damp rag and some water, wi a little soap. Use a small screw driver to get into all the tight areas with the cloth wrapped on the end. Once its dry i use WD40 sprayed on the manifold and then wipe it over with a clean cloth. Takes time but i never spray wash and engine, get water into places it shouldnt be!

well mine is still clean, you have to buff it all off with the cloth. Its not greasy, or at least the UK stuff isn't. Kepp upto it everytime you wash the car and it stays clean. I enjoy washing and waxing the motor and making it super clean so I usually spend at least and hour and a half or more doing the full works.
The best pic i have to hand is this and its pretty tidy:
