Default Washing the engine??

I have a dual plane intake with a gap under the carb, I was wondering if it is ok to hose that down really good at the car wash. Also I a trying to track an oil leak that I think that I have fixed, Is it ok to hose the entire engine as long as I cover the carb and distributor?

ive taped plastic bags (heavier like bread bag) on the carb/tb (taking off the air cleaner) and on the distribitor and done it with a small presure sprayer no problem. thats on my truck with a tb injection and normal distr. bring a rag just in case you need to dry the wires to get it to fire. did the z right before replacing the opti. to clean it up & to make sure i got all the oil leaks after done. with the type of air cleaner on it i just left it on. did motor and trany as much as i could get to up on j stands. worked good. much cleaner work invironment.

Yes you can, but be sure to cover up the alternator too.
