Dont worry about water getting into this area, the car is designed to have water here this is your cowl. Now how much of a gap are you talking the cowl cover may not be installed correctly

its fine, its just a cover, check the plastic lugs are holding it down though, mine is the same really, prob not as much gap but there is one i can get my finger under. it goes under to the metal cowl bit anyway, there is not rubber seal or anthing so dont worry. only think if your paint is a few weeks fresh go easy and no rubbing comound yet!! (unless its been buffed etc, ask the paint guys)

well washed the car yesterday and i noticed water started to flow on the computer on the passenger side, and on the intake i covered it up so water wont get it and still washed the car, but what is inside that plastic cover that could be the culprit?
