How long has the OEM V8 mount lasted you?

Thanks!

Ran the VIN today, gu6 3.42 rear end and F41 susp. I guess that is why I don't get the mileage I was expecting before I bought it!

Bigger wheels and tires?

^ Might be time to look at exhaust & Cold Air Intake upgrades -- have you done any yet?

Both are out of the price range (the suspension pieces were found dirt cheap, and easily installed). I am getting the parts to try the Free Ram Air Mod (the ones on my car are in really nice shape so not cutting them up).

About all I can see doing more is;

1LE bushings if/when they need it.
Poly bump stops
Those 10 spoke SS wheels when I need tires, go to 245 or 255s
Hi Po brake pads when I need the brakes done.
A Firebird or racing seat

The next big outlay is going to be paint if I can get housing with a garage to keep it in.

Thanks for all your input!

Shop around on the exhaust/CAI, take-offs are fairly easy to find.

NO poly bumpstops -- they are a jarring transition, stick w/stock.

Swap an LSD in the rear -- no more one-armed bandit -- did this upgrade on my RS.

Yes,

parts are cheap, installation of exhaust (manifolds) is expensive. I am not into getting a used posi, but at $400 it's just on my threshold. I haven't come across a cold air I like yet, but they are out there.

Thanks!

Update;

free ram air mod done, gets a little snappier launch, prob mostly in my head. Vibration found to be the exhaust, car is normal now on the noise. Fitting the poly trans mount put the pinion angle off about 1 deg. Ordered the Founders torque arm, and will either install or save for the Z28.

Have fun!

I would remember this ,that you have a v6 ,an me now having both v8 an a v6 ,there nice cars Camaro .nice sporty cars ,but the v6 is more for the looks an cruisein .I would drive it easy ,I found I cant drive the v6 like I would the v8 ,or I may be replaceing something in the engine sooner then I want ,I love them both ,the 6 is a cruiser an the v8 I have now an the jump off the line car ,about all I would do with my 3.8 . is drive it an keep an eye on things ,allways remember you never get what you put for extras back in the car ,down the road think about v8 that's something you can work with ,then when it becomes to much revert back to v6,yes now my engine swap I am happy with but the gas mileage not,an in some places it to much power thought I was looking for donor car when I found the 99 3800 with 88.000 miles for 2 grand .,I guess my point is if you.own a lot v6 cars then go to v8 ,well mine is not an ls1 either the 100hp is huge for the car street from 275 to 400hp an 458tlbs ,I beat on a lot of v6 cars expecting v8 results ,that's just me ,I understand.what your trying to do to ? how much you got in the car,i don't want to make that mistake with this one I have ,but the 4th gens are the best cars to me ,I would love 2002 z28 one day with the ls1,the ss cars are ok but only like 20 more hp,just a bit of advice,i had many t birds from the 90s that were under 100.000 when I beat on them they ended up at the junk yard much sooner then a ..good v8 would have ,yes they get up an go pretty good for 200 hp car 225 with .some.mods ,I like that the 2016 is getting the same hp as the ls1 ss did bit .more at 335hp,me I just don't like the looks of the new ones ,or the price,they wil come down one day though

Hmm,

not sure the point you are trying to make? My mom had GM V6s (oldsmobiles) for many years, and they were good to about 120 to 130k, and even at 86 she gets on the throttle all the time.

I am just looking to enjoy the car for 4 or 5 years until I get my driving distances down around 200mi/week (I have a short commute, but a do a lot of extra cross town driving, esp on the weekend), then getting a Z or Vette.
