i use sonar every day out fishing. thing is they are disposable now,,, or at least it seems that way. for the cost of fixing you can buy a new one.

Yeah, consumer-level depth sounding 'sonar' setups, and 'fish finders' are basically just the basic versions of what we use out here. We've got a bigger depth finder basically, and the sonar array is a whole lot more sensitive. Not to mention, it's loud enough to rupture internal organs for humans in the water, that are <50ft away.

Alright guys, come to a cross roads. While going to pick up some 17" brushed aluminum SS wheels, I ran into a fellow selling a 99 base model Z/28 convertible. New top, perfect 9/10 exterior and interior, nothing done to it. $4250 @ 76k miles.

I'm thinking of selling my car off as it is, because this convertible is going to be cheaper to get it where I want it. Coming off of the 98 t-top, do you guys think it's a better way to go?

There only thing mechanically different is that it has no ASR stuff onboard and it's an open differential in the rear, no auburn unit.

well with all the work you did to the other ,if it was a t top car i would do it for sure ,but if you like rag tops then cool ,i dont like them couse of the looks most times then the cost to replace them ,the price on the car is great couse some think rag tops are worth more ,but not in the 4th gen world ,+ is the 320hp ls1 in the car ,if you love convertables do it,again the price is right ,i see bace v6 cars selling for the much couse they think there rag top is worth more , it cost more retail for a rag top ,an it does ,the bace t top z28 was like $22.500.00 the base rag top v6 was like $25.000 loaded, an the z28 rag top $28.000 new msrp, but that price i would even concider it if it was black on red,i just seen a bace v6 with 92.000 miles rag top $4800.00 so its a deal ,if you dont like rag tops buy an sell it for a t top car ,for $1500.00 more, couse the price is great an very fair, some would say its a steal couse prices on the west coast are alot more money, just check under the car for rust ,couse while some florida cars are fine others that may have spent time near the ocean may not be,great day to drive it would a rainy day to check for top leaks too,or ask if they mind a hose test, then offer them $3500.00 if you can get it for lower price wheel an deal

It's a 1999 Z/28. Only thing it's missing is the ASR equipment and the T-Tops, obviously, lol.

The top is 2 years old along with the motors and stuff. All new A/C components, no leaks on anything.

It's not got a posi rear end (open differential), but it's smooth and quiet. I figure I can put another Eaton differential in this car later on with more aggressive gearing when I want to.

I'll be honest, the T-Tops are really killing me to think about getting rid of... But I'll also be getting rid of the hassle of hunting leaks down later as well. New tag tops aren't cheap, but this will be in a garage with the top folded down when not in use.

yup i would do it couse you can also think about driveng it for a year then run into another car ,down the road ,though you did alot of work to the other car right ,are you goint to get back what you got in it ,sometimes it just what you like or want the one you got now is 98 ls1 right top car you did alot of work to ,thought is you may be able to sell the 99 for a quick flip too ,also leaks on rag tops are alot harder to fix then on t tops no posi or limited slip on z28 humm ,how sure are you on that my base had it

to me the color of the rag top an car would play a role to ,some have like a tan top on a black car ,to me is ugly when there up ,when there down they all look pretty cool ,

It's the exact same body color as mine (that sightly creamy white), with a black top.
-edit-
Pictures of the car from the guy's garage.
Had it checked out today, here's the list of things it would need immediately.
-Change out wheels and tires for the SS wheels and G-Comp tires I have on hand, because stock tires are bald.
-Front rotors and pads need changing. Glazed rotors, pads almost gone. Brake fluid okay.

Thing it'll need done later.
-Change out hoses, because the guy who's selling it has only had ti 7 months, and he's never changed them.
-New gaskets for driver side valve cover and oil pan
-New outer tie rod ends.
