patc site's kind of a huge mess. Very unorganized.
Seems to be a little bit... vague as well for some things. Almost like the site is made for someone who's been through this gambit before.

Well just searching around, it seems fairly recently guys have had several horrible experience with both of these places.
One was a couple of years ago, with a guy that bought a 4L60E from performabuilt. Had some kind of catastrophic failure, blowing smoke and cracked case, etc. I guess he was just driving normal, got 20 miles on it.
Sent it back and, after some time, he got sent a stock used transmission that had mud that was painted over on the casing, and had about 150k miles on it, which obviously blew up too.
Patc seems to have some issues like this, where they incorrectly put together a transmission, and expect you to pay them to fix their problem after you find out what they've messed up. Either that, or they straight up block your phone number and blacklist your email until your warranty is up, then they contact you back saying you'll have to pay for a new transmission to 'fix' the problem.

i did have something go wrong after the warrenty ran out and had to send it back to get re done. its been going strong for a few years now. i am not easy on it and did not add a aftermarket cooler until after it got re done. you may want to check around and see who the local guys at the tracks use. using a local place will make it easier and more effective to call them out if something goes south.
must be a circle track somewhere close. we have a dirt track in grays harbor, small town and they do have a fav place they use. didnt find that out till after i got this one done though

Found out from a guy here on my ship. He's got an older 2500 RAM (cummins). He was destroying clutches and gears in his transmission and going through torque converters, until he found this guy after two or three previous attempts at hack-job tranny shops in jacksonville.
Apparently this guy's work is reputable, and our guy here hasn't had any problems on his truck as of yet after 6 or 7 months now before we left (he's pushing 700hp at this point).
I'll try getting my dad to give them a call to see what they want to drop my transmission, and do a rebuild on both it and the torque converter (I want a 2000-2200 rpm stall).
Either get it set up so I can drop it off after we pull back in, or send money homeward, and have padre cart the car over there and get it fixed while I'm out here. I'll probably end up being stuck with having to cook his dinner for a month while I'm on leave, but eh, whatever.
Assuming I'll order the parts and have them just do the labor, where can I get a good rebuild kit to get the transmission rebuilt to handle ~400-500 hp? I'm trying to over-build by a bit, that way I can't strain it too badly on stock power.

I'll start reading more into it, but I've skimmed across a lot of threads outside of here that mention using more clutches (pads?) between 1-2 and 2-3. From like, I think it's 6, to 8 after they're done. What's all involved with that process? Cutting into the case?
I've also read there's a lot of stock weak parts, though I'm more worried about the output shaft. With that janky drive shaft that was on it, as well as the strain of a burnt up rear end, there's a good chance it's about ready to eat some grit too.
