I've got a light in my dash that came on and it's just a little red box with an arrow and something that looks little waves. The original owner that I bought if from said it was a light saying the coolant low but it was just a bad sensor that only costs like $20 to replace. But another guy who races 4th gens a lot and he looked at it and said it was just that the windshield washer fluid was low and as long as something was in it, the light would go out, even water. So I poured a couple bottles of water in just so the light would go out. Didn't work. Anybody else have this light come on or know what it is? I know it's probably a dumb question and would be in the owner's manual if I had one.

If the light is in the upper left corner of your instrument cluster, it is the low coolant warning light. The sensor for this does have a tendency to go bad. The sensor is on the right side of the radiator on the engine side below the filler neck. There is a wire harness connected to it. The part actually costs about $45.00. You can remove the sensor and try cleaning it, replace it, or just disconnect it. I replaced mine last week. It is easy to do. You just need to remove the battery in order to get easy access to the sensor. You will lose a little coolant in the process but not too much.In order to remove the sensor, you will have to unclip a thin metal retaining clip that wraps around the top, bottom, and one side of the sensor. From there you just pull the sensor away from the radiator.

 

you have a 98-02 car he has a 94 his cluster is different than yours its under the speedo on his car

 

Okay, thanks guys. I guess that the previous owner was right then when he said it was just a bad sensor. I'll make sure to change it soon then.
