Default Universal Catayltic converter for my 98, under passenger side

Hi all,

The catalytic converter under the passenger side is rattling, very, very loudly and so I would like to get it replaced.

Here in England there arn't going to be any replacement parts so I will need a universal replacement.

So I need the measurements of the exhaust like the diameter and length and anything else I might need.

I hope this works out ok, hoping there a CAT with a big enough in and out pipes as the pipe looks big under there.

Thanks guys

Alex

make sure the rattle is not coming from the metal heat shield thats between the cat and the car body. common problem.

Get a high-flow cat, such as what Magnaflow sells -- you should be able to mail order it...

You might want to take advantage of this situation to do some exhaust upgrades at the same time!

Be ready to fabricate. The pipe leading up to the Cat is not round. Because of the floor it is shaped like a D.

I'm taking it's a V8. I would first look at the hangers and make sure they are not discontented.

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments.

Definately the cat itself that is the problem and not any kind of heat shield or brackets. A local garage I took it to is going to replace it on Tuesday so I will keep you posted.

Darn rattling noise is really annoyng me as when I put the roof and windows down at low speeds around town I can hear it in addition to when I come to a stop when I can really hear it!

Thanks

Alex
