I had a similar issue with my V6:

I read craby's link above (which is a very good write up) and all I can say is "I am glad i have a v6" In the 3800 V6 it is actually easier to change the sending unit than to change the oil filter. I swapped one in Autozones parking lot in less than 5 minutes.

Define high mileage... My Z28 only has about 80,000 on it. Are the pressure gauge fluctuations normal? Or does it need a tune up?

Also, could it have anything to do with the fact that my car has an EGR valve needs replacing? (has an OBD2 code about restricted gas recirculation)

at 80k thats ok pressure. could be better, could be worse.

Ya, that thread with the step by step is very helpful! Thanks for posting that. It sounds like I will need to have another vehicle to drive while this one is immobile though, which means I won't be able to do this job until I get my bikes shipped out. I think all-data said its a 2.4 hour job for a shop. I guess I will have to get that re-locater kit, that way if it were to happen again I wouldn't have to do so much work.
