Default Transmission Jumps

I have a 2000 3.8 V6 that the transmission is jumping up and down underneath the car when I tap the gas while moving in gear. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad transmission mount.

yup just replace the mount its really easy to do with just some basic hand tools and a jack

jack up car and support with stands
unbolt the 15mm nut holding the mount to the cross member
then jack up the trans an inch
unbolt the 4 15mm bolts for the cross member
and unbolt the 2 mount bolts 18mm i believe
bolt on the new mount
bolt the cross member back up
let the trans down
bolt down the 15mm nut

and your done shouldnt take more than 30 min

^ Except for the unbolt the crossmember part. I replaced the mount on my old 4th gen twice (first a stock rubber one, then a poly), and didn't need to drop or lower the crossmember at all.

you dont need to but imo its easier to get the mount off and on the trans without the cross member there

Thanks guys. After I posted the question, a buddy and I crawled under it and that's what we suspect as well. The guy I bought it off of says he put a new transmission mount on it, but I'm thinking that's not the case.

Take off your boxing gloves first then, before trying to reach those bolts.

You need to practice the "two index finger bolt spin" technique, for where one whole hand can't fit.
