after replacing the mounts, if you still have troubles you may want a chassis mounted torque arm. kits are sold in conjunction with aftermarket torque arms which moves the mounting point off the rear of the tranny and onto some crossmember or something (havent done it, so i cant remember exactly where it hooks up).

i do agree with those guys though, a v6 is going to have a hard time torquing those tranny mounts apart. its usually not even an issue with v8's untill youre making more power and running drag radials or slicks. many guys dont upgrade to a crossmember torque arm until they are running a 12bolt or 9inch and can run slicks.
Spec, look at my response a couple above your previous one, I gave a link that shows the frame mount. And, I tore the trans mount on my completely stock 96 Z before the car even hit 70k miles (and running no slicks either). I see a poly trans mount as a good precautionary measure. There's nothing worse (almost) than having the trans playing drums on the tunnel as it slams up. Considering the simple physics of the set-up, you're only driving on borrowed time if you have a stock mount.

I agree Pete, there is no way that his V6 is making so much power it is popping trans mounts. The motor mounts are probably gone.

I have a V6, and my trans mount broke. The torque arm kep hitting the floor of the car and it scared the **** outta me. Has heppened a few times..

hes saying you dont have the ability to pop them due to your power. they will eventually break due to wear, especially if the car is driven hard.

In the OP's original post he said he keeps popping them, that leads me to think it is something else (like the motor mount). A stock or even modded V6 is just not going to make enough power to keep breaking trans mounts, unless there is somthing else wrong witht the car.

I agree something else like motor mounts or something has to be wrong. Cause i race my 6 speed trans am v8 every so oftenand launch it hard and beat it everyday as a daily driver and i have never had that problem. I flat shift mine alot to.It's not saying your v6 never had it happen just has to be something else allowing it to move around and wear them out quicker then they should.

I dunno, I can't see how his motor mount can make a trans mount tear. Sure, an old-style laminated style mount could if it let loose since it would allow the left side of the engine to lift a matter of inches. But this car has "clam shell" motor mounts. Even if it was badly worn, the amount of upward travel would be minimal, and certainly not enough to lift the trans up a wild amount to tear it's mount.

Good point but I still don't the massive power of a V6 being able to tear trans mounts, there has to be somthing else going on here.

Give me the car for a day, I'll get it to rip...
Maybe he likes to bottom the car out on boulders or ditches? I saw it done on the Dukes of Hazzard with no ill-effects!!!
