Default is it TOO loud

Ok my cat is plugged, and I dont feel like replacing it, so Im gonna gut it. ITs a v6 so itll sound funny, please, spare me your asanine opinions on v6 sound Ive heard them all, Im just talking about volume here. Until it warms up and I have more free time to put on my new catback, I have the original exhaust on the car. However, the muffler has a cantaloupe sized hole, and nothing in it. Would gutting the cat make the car substantially louder?

So its kinda like not having a muffler or cat? I know when I had my muffler off it was preatty loud. I canonly assume that it will be a little louder without a cat. I'm kinda interested on how that will sound.

Ooooh it doesnt sound real good right now so Im not expecting it to sound better lol. Once I get the SLP LM2 on however.... but for now it I will just have to settle for a big rusty muffler and no cat... Ill get a video of before and after and try to figure out how to post them up in here.

It will probably sound a little louder and a little raspier, other than that, with a hole in the muffler, probably not a huge difference.

I've gutted a couple of clogged, broken apart cats. One was on my v-6 Fiero. Both times, the exhaust had a bit of an empty, resonating tin-can sound. I think it would sound better if you were to slide a pipe inside the cat and tack weld it in place to basically make it a straight pipe. To answer your main question...too loud? No such thing as too loud!!

Ya, Im just hoping the loud doesnt sound stupid. I thought about the straight pipe thing, and that was my original idea, but it has a 3 inch inlet and 2.5 inch outlet and advance told me they didnt have a reduction for that so I'll just punch it out.
