Default LOUD POP CAN NOISE

Well i just got my 97 Z28 out for the first time this year. after i let her warm up a little bit and idle for awhile i took it out for a spin. then all of a sudden i hear a noise coming from the front of the car, sounds like a pop can getting crushed over and over. I was mad and scared what the hell is this noise. well i took it to a friends house that work on cars. he jacks up the car and sees a lot a dimples in the cover for the torque converter. he took it off and there was a small black bolt in there pinging around in there. have no idea where it came from. no work was done on the car, the bolt was not broke but was banged up pretty good. How or where would this come from. thanks for your help.

the best you can do is look in the immediate area of the torque converter for a lost bolt. there are only so many ways into a verter. if all seems well there is a good chance it is not the stock verter, but prehaps a rebuilt or OEM one and the bolt found its way in there just due to bad packaging or install.
the problem is very odd, i personally have not heard of this happening before.

i realize its frustrating to not get any responses, but with weird problems like this with no clear cut answer not many members will want to post advice not knowing 100% what the source of the problem even is. however please dont shout.
