Hello everyone!

My 97' V6 Camaro has only has 112,000 miles and is in Missouri.

Currently it hasn't been driven since July.

My question is for any way to get it out of Park.
The shift can engage when pushing down the button, but won't move back into Circle Drive.
So far have tried turning the steering wheel and pumping the brake.

Any thoughts?

 

Have you tried rocking the car while you turn the wheel. If a car moves even a little after its parked and the wheels are turned it can be put a huge bind on the sheeting wheel. You end up with a lot of the weight clamping the steering wheel in place. I drove a flatbed tow truck sometimes my first year as a mechanic and I will bet I un-stuck 6 wheels. Everything from brand new cars to old junkers. On the other hand after 6 year turn wrenches full time I have never seen a steering wheel lockup for any other reason. All failing steering columns I have had to repaired was for being too loose,

The goal is to get the shifter out of Park and into Drive. Please let me know if this will help..

 

yes it should help

 

Sometimes the plastic white pin that is inside the shifter breaks cause u not to be push down all the way, take the top section of your console off and poke around, worse case u can get it to shift manually in a pinch until you fix/figure it out, good luck
