short term, hook a toggle switch to 12v and the fans.

True other z28 forums told me I could not do my engine swap was not possible ,I guess I should say its better to be smaller an have quality ,then way to many opions ,or what i got ,yes these guys know what there talking about an are good guys ,they helped me alot ,that should work for you I hope,i allways look forward to driving my my car too

Do your gauges seem to read fairly accurately? I wouldn't expect the gauges to work as well, with the probes being out of the mainstream flow of coolant contact (not directly in the head).

Hmm...I never thought of that. I'll have to compare them to the data logger next time I have it hooked up. I'm sure they might be a few degrees off from each other.

As Cam69 suggests, sensor has to be in the flow to read coolant temp.
If not, then they read ambient temp as the fittings will dissipate heat to the atmosphere.

If one cannot remove the plug in the head, one can install a doubled nutted 4-sided nuts on a short bolt, insert into plug and use a long handle/extension - more leverage - more torque. Always worked for me.
