I would think there would have to be some modification if your car didn't originally have the option of radio control via steering wheel

you would need a stereo that has wheel controls and just run the wiring to it

Basic, do you know if it would be possible to use an aftermarket radio and still be able to use steering wheel controls?

GM and others decided a while ago to install the same wiring with all connections for all options saving money on the build line when new. I was wondering if this is the case with the steering wheel radio controls. I can't emagine it takes a different stereo. There must be a plug in back and maybe the wiring is all plugged in and all I have to do is find the wire in the column and plug her in.

Wishing too much huh?

theres no wiring or plug in the stock camaros they never came with radio controls... my aftermarket deck has a hookup for it and it looks like a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so im assuming its just 1 wire

ya they just started adding that feature a couple years ago thats why i bought the deck i have just in case i bought a car with them

Hm, i'll have to check that out, I have a Pioneer 3300UB, i'll have to check through the manual, if the case be that I can, like you said- it would be nice to have it incase I want it.

I bought a new 87 Trans-Am and it had factory radio controls in the steering wheel.

I didnt think they made radio controls in the 80's, how was it connected to the stock radio? Was there an extra harness?
