Default New steering wheel.

I'm thinking of changing the steering wheel to something just a bit smaller, probably around 14 inches, soI don't have to worry about my hands knocking me knees when I make sharper turns. I like the look and feel of some of the GT series racing steering wheels but wondered if I would run into a headache replacing my stock wheel since it has an airbag and the radio controls, just kind of wondering what this modification would require. Also, when I'm working the clutch, at times the tip of my shoes will catch part of the dash just above the pedal, any suggestions on a modification to make it a bit more roomy down there. I was thinking of getting a panel from the junk yard and shaving it down, kind of playing with it to see if I can eliminate the catch I'm experiencing. Just looking for suggestions, thanks for any input.

I am looking into changing my wheel also, yeah those GT wheels are great i agree there, but im a little lets say scared of taking my wheel apart with the airbag in there lol, does anyone know what the hell i have to do ??? seeing as it will help out Conundrum also????. Also, i think shaving down the panels with a dremel would work great, personally i have the same problem in my camaro and now that you said it, i was like im not ALONE!!!! lol

To take off your steering wheel or do any work that may deploy the airbag you have to disconnect your battery, and let any remaining electricity in the wires to drain. So basically just disconnect your battery and wait 15-20 minutes before doing anything.

Are 4th Gens a lot smaller than the 3rd Gen models? I used to have an 83 Trans Am, but I don't remember having this much of a space issue. I'm 21 now at 6'3" and size 15 shoes. When I had my Trans Am I was about 17 at 6'1" and size 13 shoes, doesn't seem like a huge increase to me but maybe it's just enough to make it feel even more like a sardine can.
