SS or Z28

RE: SS or Z28
Does he have the full LT4 97 SS, or is it just an 1997 Special Edition? They made SS and Z28 cars in the Special Edition paint scheme that didn't come with the LT4. If he has the LT4 he's rated at 330 (probably actually more) HP, which is a reasonable amount more than the regular SS or Z28. If you have modifications all bets are off though...how fast you go depends on how much money you're willing to spend.
Whammer, keep in mind those are all factory rated values, which we all know can be off at times.

oh i know they can be a little off, i'm just saying that it is written that the ss made more horsepower. granted, maybe 15-20 more most likely due to the hood and exhaust. but likei stated previously, you can buy a z28 and put a cold air and exhaust on it for less than you can buy a stock ss for. and reggie, you have to figure with headers and catback that you added 25 or so horsepower and hten you have different gears that's going to make you jump quicker. that's not a fair race

RE: SS or Z28
It could be just special edition not 100 % sure but he wanted the race saying he was faster i guess it wont fair but he asked for it lol Funny thing is i raced him again today and even worse outcome Will only get worse for him because i am about to really start building the power plant

RE: SS or Z28
i dont know. it seems the ss pushes more hp, but that means nothing since you could do just about anything with a camaro(intake, heads, headers, etc.) ive seen people custom make engine parts for camaros, its crazy...
i personally love my Z28, its just those in-the-head things, you gotta want one or the other, and check for best prices...
which satisfies you better, (your name) in the Z or (your name) in the SS

RE: SS or Z28
hey, way to give reasoning as to why the z is better than an ss. and last i checked, a ford has never been an SS. and my registration says 97 z28 convertible. so do you still rule for owning a z28?

RE: SS or Z28
ABKorrupt: For the early 4th gen SS's (96 and 97) they did have a little more HP due to the better flowing intake, in 1998-2002 they had the same amount of power.
Z28Reggie: I'd probably say that he just has the Special Edition. Next time you guys meet up ask him to pop his hood and take a look, if it's actually an LT4 it will have a red powder coated intake and have a "Grand Sport" label on top of the throttle body. He would also have LT4 on the inside of his door listed as an option code and the car can only be a manual.
gvmv and whammer...play nice

RE: SS or Z28
dont sell yourself short, get a 98 or newer z28. the LS1 is one the the greatest motors ever built, it is very under rated, and it will flat out smoke just about anything on the road. classic muscle. these days you can find one for next to nothing. check out ebay, talk to the seller, go drive the car, buy the car, and have a smile on your face every time you see a mustang. nuff said.

hey mitch, bring that ls1 to my town and i bet you won't be beating EVERYTHING on the road. and the ls1 underrated? ummm...people think that motor was made by god himself. you need to do some more research and learning there bud.
and sorry slvr, i just hate it when people come on a forum and don't give any real argument. i never once said which car was "better," in fact, i believe i said the z28 can be made as fast and bought for cheaper than a stock ss. [sm=rant.gif]
