Default Shaving off decals

I'm getting ready to pick up a 2001 WS6 and had a quick question about the door decals. I'm referring to the raised lettering that says Trans Am on the lower side of the doors. My original plan was to color them in gold but recently I've decided I want to shave them off and put the Gothic style lettering Trans Am tags like those on the 77 Special Editions. Since I don't actually own the car yet and I haven't had the opportunity to take a detailed look at the door I was wondering if anybody knew if the emblem was actually molded into the door or simply a decal that was adhered to the door. The difficulty to removing the decal will determine which course I take.
