Default Security message is still active & car still wont engage starter after bypassing VATS

I ave a 2000 SS Convertable.
I have had issues with the VATS system for some time, but it has been hit & miss. I mostly wasacting up in cold humid days, but not always the case
Recently, it has pretty much stopped working at all, so H have a large prety paper weight in my driveway.
I purchased a Gator Vats bypass, measured my key (1.46 om), and set the gator to the correct swith setting.. I checked its output, and it is also 1.46.
But, the security message is still on, and th estart will not click on. This now seems to be a constant issue.

What else could /should I check to get my paper wieght working again?

Thanks! Bruce

News Update... It is not working again.
I have used the Gator bypass and things hanksto have been working for about 1 to 2 mon, but now it will not click the starter, and the Security word is flashing in the cluster.
I can wait for to time out, but most of the time, that will not work. I have tried this about 10 time several times. But other times, I may just try it once.
What else can I do? Is here just someway to totaly eliminate the VATS?
2000 SS Convertible (automaitc..yech!)
Thanks
Bruce

have you had a scanner hooked up to it yet? most times it the best way to find where issue is coming from.
