94 lt1 a4 - security light has been on for ~6 months. no problems. until about a week ago. the car would turn over and even fire for maybe 1 second. then it would just shut off. i could even get it started once in a while if i stomped the pedal when it fired. but it would miss horribly for 30 seconds then it would be fine. idled good and revved fast. but now it wont even turn over. we checked the starter and it was fine. any ideas on whats goin on? thanks, chris

 

You should have taken care of the security lite problem when you had a chance. The Vats system prevents the starter from engaging and the injectors from firing. Could e a key problem, key contact, or wiring problem, or a security module trouble, or even a blown fuse.

 

how do i check these things to find out which one it is? where is the security module? im guessing in the pcm?
