Hey Tush, you should check my old post about the same problem here:

https://camaroforums.com/forum/compu...haywire-45636/

I ended up replacing my BCM, but you might want to try the BCM repair sticky as well.

As to the OP, I don't think your system has been bypassed. It sounds like your car's VATS system is in its "disabled" mode. This is usually caused by a short in the system after the car is already running. This happens when there's an intermittent short (a partly broken wire or connection in the ignition lock) - causing the VATS to recognize the key at first, but then lose connection after it's started. If that happens several times in a row, the VATS disables itself because it knows there's a fault in the system. With VATS disabled, the SECURITY light stays on always, but doesn't prevent the car from starting.

If you find where the short is (most likely at the ignition lock, where it's constantly being turned back and forth), then you can fix the short and then reset the VATS system. I'm not sure how to reset it in the '95 because that was before VATS was put in the BCM, and my car is '96 with VATS in the BCM... Do a search on the forum, though, and I'm sure someone has already detailed how to reset VATS.

Well mine is a 99 Z28 and the light doesn't flash or anything, it just stays on. Would there be any difference between the 96 and 99 security system?

they are different, the 98-02 cars have a diff system, maybe 97-02 not sure there, this has been noticed before, and it was as simple as your ground to the bat not being tight enough to a bad relay somewhere,,, check you neg on the bat and pray? lol

Lol! Already did that bro. It's tight and doesn't have any corrosion on it. It doesn't do it all of the time, just when it gets moody lol!

Bump! I never thought about taking the bulb out. I've had that light on for 3 years, since I got the car, and it never had a problem starting and it's on every time. It's finally starting to annoy me now lol
