i have a 1995 camaro with 3.4l i just got from a friend that gave up on it he broke the key off in the ignition. i replaced the ignition. the ignition i got from the salvage yard. If i jump start the starer the car starts but shuts off when i take the power away. the security light is on. when i put the key in. is there away around the security besides resistor mod?

 

Do you still have the old ignition switch? If so, you may be able to disassemble the old lock cylinder to get what remains of the broken key out and then get the resistor value from it. With the resistor value, you could then have your new key recut with the old resistor value.
