I have a 96 Camaro and when you turn the key over the security light in dash comer on and car won't start.If I sit in car light goes off after approx. 2 minutes and car will start, or sometimes I have to sit through this process a for another 2 minutes before car will start. If anybody has any ideas or can help in any way I sure would appreciate the help.Thanksrks959

 

Not trying to sound like a smart ***, but make sure you're trying to start the car the right way. I had a 96 where thathappened to me a couple of times. When cranking, I accidentally let the key slip back, then cranking it again right away activated the security. If the system senses multiple no-start crankings, it will assume it's an attempted theft and put itself into security mode. Then you have to wait the couple minutes for it to reset. Crank it and don't let off the key until it starts. And make sure the pellet on the key is good and clean. Or, you might only need a new key. If all else fails, your problem may be with the ignition switch.
