safe oil additives

RE: successful day
Wow, this thread took a whole new turn...
Spartan, like Specter said, any substantial leaks are going to drip off and show up on the ground. If you park in a driveway you'll be able to notice pretty easily, in the street it's a bit harder, but you'll still be able to see dark spots. The stuff on the front of your engine could be a small leak coming from the front cover, if it's not dripping it's not really going to affect anything. My car has the usual LT1 "back of the intake manifold" leak and my oil pressure when ideling or driving is perfectly fine. Just make sure you have the right viscosity of oil in it, if you recently switched over to a full synthetic sometimes the car can sprout "new" leaks (they were actually there before, but the conventional oil isn't slick enough to get out) or it can start burning oil, in which case you'll see blue smoke coming from you exhaust. If your oil level on the dip stick is fine I'd check the oil pressure sending unit and make sure everything is good to go with it.

RE: successful day
synthetic also has a tendancy to absorb more into ur motor, so if you just switched from conventional expect the oil level to drop as much as a quart. check it regularly and add a little more if u need it over the next couple weeks.

RE: successful day
ok thanks guys! I just wasnt sue because a buddy of mine noticed that when i stop my oil pressure drops down to 20 (im guessing it goes up by that increment to 80?) and when i drive around its at or above 60 with my new oil.
As for oil on the ground there isnt any so i guess that answers that question. Ill keep an eye on my oil and top it off if and when i need to! Thanks again guys!
