Default Replacing Optispark

I'm replacing the opti with a new one from summit. My question is do I have to line up the rotor in the same location as the old one I took off to keep the timing corrcet or do I simply put it on? The reason I ask is that it seems like a sealed unit and I don't want to break the seal if I don't have too. Thanks

yes u should take the cap off. there are gears missing in the drive splines so it will only go in right one way. if u force it on the wrong position u can ruin it. sumitt dist. are rebuilt but i guess u got it already and i dont think u can send it back. rebuilt opti's arent the most dependable. theres a rubber o ring between the cap and dist. dont lose it, and seal the cap with some high temp gold or blue rtv to help it seal better when u put it back together.
