Default Remote Starter on a 97 V6?

I have a older remote starter lying around that came out of my fathers truck and would like to put it in my car. It has controls for the locks and trunk and obviously remote start. Reading the install booklet for the kit it looks like itll work for my camaro. My question is how much do the door locks, alarm, and other electrical things rely on the BCM. My car since i bought it has always had weird electrical issues that ive never been able to pin down. Radio will randomly shut off and not came back, gauges will bounce when brake pedal is depressed, right blinker gets stuck in the on position, windows not going up or down, absolutely no range from the original key fob (has new battery) just strange little issues. Ive asked about a few of these issues and people always tell me its likely a bad ground. But i have gone through and checked all the interior grounds i could and they all seem to be fine, so im starting to suspect the BCM may be the issue for a bunch of my issues. My rational side of me says to not introduce new electrical systems to the car cause it may make my issues worse, that being said, if i can install the remote start and it has nothing to do with the BCM, then i would like to do it and then deal with my issues when its not 17 degrees out side.

Have you seen this?

IMO aftermarket remote starters are only good for about 5 years. After that they are very unreliable. I have seen a lot of un-installs on big dollar units for getting flaky. Last thing you want to do is install an older unit into a car that already has some bugs. That is just begging for a nightmare. Get your current issues figured out before you cut wire one and if you really want a remote start buy a new unit and install that.

You will really be pissed when you go out after work and find your car is out of gas cause it "remote started" and didn't shut down, next you find that because you ran it out of gas it fried the fuel pump (actual situation that happened). I saw one car that you could just slam the drivers door and the car would start.

I have seen that thread. In there a few people mention that when their radio goes out so do the windows, mine are separate, and sometimes its only one window that does, usually the drivers side window though. Im still gonna pop the BCM out and check it over just in case, but i have my doubts. But if there's a possibility that my car will start randomly and murder a fuel pump then thats enough to make me not want a remote start. Ive done 2 pumps in this car in 2 years. I am sick of doing them. lol. Guess its finally time for me to get some ambition to hunt down my electrical gremlins. Thanks for the insight.
