Default remote locks

I have a 95 Z-28. and the dealer says they cant program a remote door lock transmitter because the doors lock as soon as you turn the key.Can anyone else with a 95,94 or 93 tell me if there car does the same thing.
I was reading the manual and the procedure for a 96is different than the 95. Is it possiable that the guy at the dealership was just using the wrong procedure to program the transmitter? Or is there really somthing wrong with my wiring to make the doors lock as soon as I cycle the key. Please help.

im pretty sure you need to lock the doors manually and from the outside press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time for 10 seconds

Your owner's manual has directions on how to reprogram remote transmitters...

the 96+ camaros use a different BCM and remote key system than the earlier cars did. Follow the instructions in the PDF above to program them correctly.

Weird. According to the 4th Generation parts pdf the remote keyless entry module is the same for 1994 and 1995 models only. This is a stand-alone module located behind the RH kickpanel, not part of the BCM. And a 94 doesn't even have a BCM.
The programming instructions I've found on the web for my 94 give a procedure in which you turn the ignition key from off to run several times, leaving the key on. No mention of shorting any pins on the DLC.
Yet the 95 Owners Manual pointed to in the previous post shows an OBD II DLC and *does* talk about shorting 2 pins of it.
Early 95s were 3.4 but I doubt that those were OBD II cars. Anyone know for certain? The 3800 was a midyear introduction, right? Now they would have had the OBD II system.
Does that mean there are two version sof the 95 owners manual, one for the OBD I 3.4 and one for the OBD II 3800? And the RKE programming instructions are completely different for the two? Ohh, I feel a headache coming on...

The 3.4L 95 Camaros are more of a OBD 1.5, the 3.8L 95s did follow the OBDII as far as reading the codes but not with the emissions. The key on/off X3 thing does not work with the older cars. 93 did not have a BCM per se, and the 94-95 had a BCM that did very little actually. The Keyless entry for 94-95 was handled by a keyless entry module and I believe it was located in the rear kick panel. The Keyless entry unit would tell the BCM to unlock the doors but they were not the same unit.

My 94 has the RKE module located behind the RH kick panel and that's where it was on a junkyard 94 as well. I popped the cover off the junkyard car module to see what it looked like inside before I bought it and it had water damage. I did see 3 small relays soldered to the module PCB. I assumed that one was for unlock doors, one for lock doors, and the 3rd for hatch release.
As far as I know the closest thing a 93 or 94 has to a BCM is the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) module. I only learned that my car had RAP a week or so ago and I was thrilled. Neat feature.
