Default HELP! My Wheels have Locks on them!

A friend of mine and I were working on my car the other day. Went to pull the wheel off and it had a locking lug nut on each wheel. No key in the car. Did GM sell these? I don't know where to get a key from if it wasn't a GM part.

HELP!!

Do you have the owners manual, or other original paperwork that came with the car? You should have a card with a code on it for getting a replacement key. Without it, you're sol. I've spun locks off before using a cold chisel and a hammer. Just gotta be careful not to hack up the wheel, if your lug nuts are recessed. If you have wheels with a center cover, the nuts will be easier to get to.

If you can't find the key, or get a replacement from GM/Chevy, I'd say go out and buy on of those universal Gator Grip ratchet heads. That should be able to get a good grip on the lug nut to get it off. If that doesn't work, a good pair of Channellocks and some old-fashioned elbow grease will do the job

Which style of locking lug nut is it? Most auto part stores sell them, but you'd have to buy the whole set that includes the key and all 25 lug nuts.

Problem with that is all lug lock key patterns are different, just like door lock keys are different.

most reputable tool manufacturers make a socket that has teeth inside it to spin off locking lug nuts, may want to look into purchasing one from snap on, craftsman, mac tools etx

I found a set of those sockets at AutoZone, worked great. They have an internal left handed thread that cuts into the lug nut and bites harder as it is turned. Kinda makes locking lug nuts a waste of time and money. Of course the lug nut will get pretty well chewed up in the process. lol

To be honest, those are most used by thieves that are only interested in the rim, not the lug nuts. I find it ridiculous that those are sold to the general public...

Are you saying that the general public cannot be trusted and can be easily turned into car wheel theives? Congress should write a law obout it, besides they seem to have plenty of time doing nothing, except talking smack about each other. Seriously, any self respecting car thief already has acess to all the tools of the trade.

It doesn't matter who they sell it to. If someone wants to steal something they're going to steal it regardless if they sell a tool or make there own.
