Default rear end gears and gas mileage!!!

ok so i have a 1994 z28 camaro m6 with 411 rear end gears...needless to say my gas mileage is pretty much ****. now those gears are badass but the car is my dd so im going to swap them out for a more economical ratio... so i was wondering if u guys could tell me what kind of mpg i can expect with which gears? im looking into either 373's 342's or stock ...i think stock is 273's...which do you suggest for a dd thanks all input is appreciated...

i think stock on a 94 is 323. u would be happy with 373s with the 6 speed. if its running right and tuned u should get over 20 with em. 342s should put u at 25mpg. again that s if its running and operating right.

If you'd lay off it, you'd get better mileage.

thanks craby..its running well but im going to fix an exhaust leak at the manifold that i think is hurtin my mileage also i think my fuel pressure regulator is bad cuz the cars a hARD start so maybe thats effecting my mileage too. but 02stanGT i keep it around 2000 rpms always and get like 10 city 14 highway

Keep your foot out of the pedal. Problem solved. Go with 3.42 gears. Exhaust manifold leaking won't hurt mileage much, if any. You just need to lay off the gas pedal. With 4.11s on an LT1 I would never expect more than 16 mpg anyways lol.

I have 4:11's with my 94 with the lt1, 6 spd and if my foot isn't in the throttle im getting about 15 around town and 20-22 on the highway.

Ah yeah that double overdrive... Well maybe you're just lucky haha Still I wouldn't expect very good mileage unless you baby it. Even then it won't be very pretty

i dont know the set up of O2 sensors of the LT1s exactly but im sure the O2 could be reading slightly out due to the manifold leak and in turn richening up the mix, people have said before the milage isnt that bad with 4.11s. When was your last full service, plugs, oil, filters etc??

Not true. Even a small exhaust leak can mess with your O2's and make the car think its running lean so it starts dumping fuel. I have seen it a few times on LSX cars as well as jeeps.
