A stock 5.0 makes what the 3.8 makes at the crank at the ground stock and with around the same milage. Like i said maybe a perfect condition 3.8 vs a 94 or 95 GT could be posible. Say a good driver vs bad driver and auto vs 5 speed. It could happen. But if both cars are in fair condition and have good drivers. 5.0 is going to kill it and the 4.6 is going to be worse. Sorry to all you V6 guys its just the way life is or at least untill we figure out the black hole thing[>:].

'94-'95 5.0 OHV = 215 hp
'96-'98 4.6 SOHC = 225 hp
'99-'04 4.6 SOHC = 260 hp

Unless you're talking about Cobra's or the newest GT's you're not really accurate with 275+

I wouldn’t call it under power for its generation a good 5.0 will put a little over 200 down to the ground not bad by any standard. You are talking about a late 80s platform. It’s cheap and easy to work on. Parts are cheaper then latter model platforms and there are a lot of them to pick from. Plus the pre 93 5.0s are basically tanks they hold up great and if they are well taken care of can run 200K easy. Also look at the cars it was classed with. F-bodys running the 305 TBI, 305TPI. Probably the only engine up until the LT1 that really matched the FORD was the 350TPI. Also do some research and look at the power band on the FI 5.0s you will find a fair amount of low and mind rang torque. It may not be a LT or a LS but by the time these engine where put into F-Bodys the FI 302 was a out dated platform and it showed in the last two years of production with the new emissions and the weaker pistons. Any way if you haven’t noticed this has gotten way off topic. I think it’s safe to say this tread has been hijacked and is a run away.

The 5.0L fordblock can hold up to 500hp before it splits... so inother words to make it worth **** without getting a bigger engine youd have to dump ALOT of money into it... forced induction... juice.. whatever.
