Raced Ford mustang
Hi there im new to this site and i have a 01 Chevy Camaro 3.8L V6 5-speed and i Raced my friend in his 00 Fird mustang and i lost i have only had the car for like 5 weeks and i want to know how to shift good so we i drag race i can win b/e im tired of him saying his car is the **** and can beat any car well i would like to race him again when i know to shift and kick his *** that why we can give the Camaro a good name and have him stop talk about his car all the time? thanks
Are we talking about a 4.6 Mustang or more of a base model? Because as much as I hate Mustangs, I don't think you'll be taking any V8's anytime soon with a V6. All of my buddies Mustangs I've ridden in, I've been surprised at the decent kick inthe *** they have stock. When it comes to shifting, it really just comes down to practice. Practice finding the right RPM to launch for your car and how fast to let out on the clutch etc. You're also going to need to practice ripping through the gears quickly, until itbecomes second nature. I personally like to shift about 500 to 1000 below my redline, car seems to respond the best then.
If it is the 4.6 you might want to hold off on your next race. He is runing around 25 percent more horse power then you are right now and it would take some work to catch him.

Pre 93 5.0 around 200 WHP give or take stock
94 and 95 5.0 around 190stock give or take a few.
4.6 around 230 WHP
I could be wrong but i would say the 4.6 is going to kill the 3.8 just about any day of the week. She may hold up VS a mid 90s 5.0 with the heaver body and weeker pistonsbut it still going to be close and if the stang is bolted just with the basics intake, headers, exhaust, ([
]gutted catzs) its going to blow a 3.8 out of the water.

This is why i dont race the v8 mustangs with my camaro.its just a 3.4dd.I also own a 75 nova with about 450 hp which is a sure cure for a stang
.But i agree the most you could do is keep up if its a newerv8.

Redneck, what Mustangs have you been riding in? The 3800 is a tough son of a ***** but all the GT's I've ridden in 5.0's or 4.6's couldtake them without much trouble. And yes, I'm talking about those that are bone stock.
