Default question about trans fluid

would it be worth while to get synthetic when I change it or will it make that much of a difference? I dont think that it has ever been changed in its 204000 miles of life so it obviously needs to be done. just didnt know if I should get the best stuff I can find. also how many quarts does it take just changing the filter and fluid?

I belive it takes 4 to 4.5 quarts to refill the transmisson fluid at least thats what mine took. I wouldn't go with all synthetic but i wouldn't go with the cheapest either. Just right in the middle is how i went and my transmissons going great.
