A question about larger wheels and mpg

Default A question about larger wheels and mpg

Hey guys thanks again for all your repsonses and advice on my last post it was and us greatly appreciated.. I have a new question but it should be pretty easy to the experts on this forum.. My question is what is te percentage lost of mpg with 22" rims compared to stock 17's I'm thinking about but some stock rims cause I'm getting like 13-14 mpg with my 22's

I don't see how rim size would affect true mpg's unless it threw your speedometer off and you are using that to calculate your mileage.

Overall diameter of the tire is what makes any kind of difference. In general, larger diameter wheels weigh more than smaller diameter wheels, but then the tires to fit the larger wheels weigh less than tires for smaller diameter wheels. Larger diameter wheels means you have tires with a shorter sidewall, which also means less rolling resistance due to having less sidewall flex, or give. Simple answer... I really wouldn't expect to see much of a difference one way or another between them. Maybe have a word or two with your right foot about your gas mileage!

Funny thing is that I don't drive the hell out of my camaro.. My jag is a different story though lol hahaha
